The past couple of months I've been reading a lot about education and learning. Nearly all of the leading pedagogues claimed that the key to getting students "to learn" was to tap into their passions. I found this to be pretty intuitive, so it struck me as odd that they needed to state it. Then I began to wonder, what happened in our society that caused us to forget such a fundamental concept? This question led me on a journey back to the 1440s, with the invention of the printing press. This video (briefly) summarizes what I learned.
Also, given the recent "Visions of Students Today" project (refer to VOST2011 tag), this also kind of serves as a remix of some of those awesome videos (see credits).
