I love many cultures - this song relates to losing culture due to impending daily stresses. The video, perhaps rightly or wrongly, brings more of a reality to the metaphor showing an East Indian neighborhood in Canada.
I have always had a romantic vision of India. I have met many wonderful people from India, I play the sitar, make curries, and have imagined India as rich in jungle gardens. I know there are also dry areas but I am proposing a situation where people from India come to this Canadian survey and miss their gardens.
I had just finished the song and was going to make a video with multiple me's singing. I was listening to the rough song in the car driving home from school - I teach a course in Brampton in the summer. I have always been fascinated by the Indian population out walking and realized that this would make good footage for the video.
As you can see, the video is cut approximately in half with one side flipped horizontally. It has three speeds to match the song. Other than that, it is almost unprocessed. Of course it looks much better in the one gig version ;-)
