This piece utilizes a guitar effects pedal to create an echo delay effect for the horn while the hornist (performed here by the composer) simultaneously plays the piano part which is written to be played with the performer's free hand (in this case, the hornist does not place their hand in the bell). The delay created by the effects pedal allows for harmonic and rhythmic support to be created as a result of chord arpeggiation and rhythmic variation. The echo itself is finitely metered, thus several composite rhythms are formed between the acoustic sound production and the amplified/synthesized sound production. The addition of video added as an afterthought, and can be utilized on stage during performance through a synced clicktrack to the performer.
