Schnauzers are the absolute best. I don't think I could own any other breed of dog.

My first schnauzer I had to put down when he was 14. He kept looking at me like "Mom it's time to let me go." He would fall over outside trying to go to the bathroom. Cried a lot. I know he was in pain. Finally one day I was at the laundry mat washing big quilts and this prophet walked up to me and didn't know me I just got into that town. She asked me if I had a dog. I said yes. Then she said God said it's time to let him go. I went home thinking she was wrong but he kept getting worse. Finally one morning I got the courage to get him put down. I screamed and cried at the vets office. I saw a blur of several ppl sitting they probably thought I was crazy. I left him I couldn't watch him die. Before I took him I went to a dumpster and threw out his toys, bowls, bed, etc so that when I got home nothing was there to remind me of him. (Except pics I put in box) it was the saddest day of my life. I loved my mother and daddy nevertheless it was harder for me to let go of my dog than them. He was my best friend. God gave me peace one night in a dream because I fell in a deep depression. I dreamt that I saw Toby running and all of a sudden I saw him running to these hands. I knew it was Jesus. The grief lifted and joy came and peace. 3 yrs later now I have another one. I will never let him suffer the way I let Toby. It's hard to let go but when they get old they are suffering so much. God will give u peace.

Mine is 11 now. He's starting to become an old man, but still full of energy and loves to play. I do what I can to keep his body and mind active, which really helps. We have had a few health scares with thyroid and pancreatic problems, but he's completely bounced back. His breath really stinks as tartar has built up over the years, going to see the vet if it gets any worse. He's developed some strange anxieties in his old age - afraid of his own farts and poop and tries to run away when he does them. Apart from that he is the healthiest, happiest, most handsome dog in the neighbourhood!
