Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate accused of mass censorship of his social media as he removed and blocked anyone with an opposing view, opposing question or expressed concern over the state of the city and how it is being run. Tom flies off the handle claiming that it was "inundated with explicit posts" however all evidence suggests that this was far far from the truth. So in a move akin to the midnight paper shredding of years gone by, he suspends his page to remove the evidence that proved it was nothing short of mass censorship, destroying hundreds of mature, pertinent and relevant posts and blocking those users. His 'blocked' list figures could easily be estimated from follow up comments as being far far greater than his 'likes' numbers. The result of all of this was that Tom hosted a page that presented a fictitious view of public perception of his mayoralty, a censored and highly skewed view of his office that was meticulously groomed to purport that he was unanimously praised and supported by every single person on the Gold Coast. Tom then lashed out at community groups as being undemocratic and skewed, all the while pushing this campaign of blocking his constituents and removing evidence of their concerns.
