This video profiles the launch of a student outreach initiative for Energy Independence on American Independence Day 2014. The project specifically focuses on high efficiency energy saving LED bulbs that replace 60 watt incandescent bulbs with 6 watt LED bulbs. In addition to focusing on LED lights, and overall energy saving LED technology, this video profiles student energy auditing with details on the calculations of the energy savings and environmental sustainability.

As parents and schools begin to focus more on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) this type of student outreach initiative supports the goals of making our next generation more competitive in a global market and fostering American Energy Independence and American Energy Security. Plus, rising costs of education are hurdles for families across America, and this type of program empowers students of all ages to make money while also helping their neighbors save money on electricity bills. In addition to signing up new customers (parents) to buy the LED bulbs, this video profiles a neighborhood stand set up to recruit other students to join the program and participate as young "soldiers" in the American Energy Revolution. K-12 students as well as college and graduate school students, have an opportunity at hand to engage at a grassroots level and make a meaningful impact. The Triple Bottom Line, "People, Planet, and Profit" ring true here as the young participants learn about the impact of energy savings through LED lights and share what they have learned with other students and adults in their community.

Organizations looking to raise money to support their causes (e.g. Boy Scouts, School Bands, Churches, and Environmental Clubs) can now use this type of program to sell energy efficiency in addition to or in replacement of popcorn, candy, or other sale items.

The video narrator is Charlie Szoradi the Chairman of Independence LED and DK LED USA. For more information on the LED bulbs see www.IndependenceLED.com/DK-LED-USA.
