Last summer, Natalie Brown teamed up with The Power Company, modern dance company in residence at Columbia College. The result was this collaborative choreography, "Muli," performed to "Dahlradia" by Raquy and the Cavemen. We were grateful for the opportunity to perform the piece live with the musicians.
"Muli" is Romani for "spirits of the dead." This piece is dedicated to the dancing women in western Pakistan that were executed this year by the Taliban after they refused to stop performing, as well as the Romani people in eastern Europe that were murdered last summer as a result of ignorance, prejudice and hate.
