Scott Davis is one of the founders and is currently president and chief executive officer of Mountain West Small Business Finance, formerly known as Deseret Certified Development Company. Mountain West is a private non-profit corporation licensed and regulated by the U.S. Small Business Administration to administer the SBA 504 Loan Program.

Deseret CDC was founded in May 1980. Under Mr. Davis' direction, the company has grown from a staff of one to a staff of over forty. Since receiving its SBA certification in May 1981, Deseret/Mountain West has originated over 3,000 loans to businesses located throughout Utah and neighboring states, representing a current portfolio of over $436 million outstanding.

Mountain West Small Business finance is among the nation's most active SBA licensees. In fiscal year 2006 alone, loans totaling over $96 million were provided to over 250 small businesses throughout the Intermountain West.

In May 1984, Mr. Davis was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Development Companies (NADCO), the trade association for the Certified Development Company industry. In May 1991, Scott was elected president of NADCO and served in that position for two years followed by two years as past president. Scott presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City.

Scott attended Utah State University in 1970 and graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Utah in 1977.

Scott and his wife, Cathie, have four children, two of whom are Aggie graduates. Future Aggie grandchildren number three plus two on the way. The Davis family resides in Bountiful, Utah.
