WorldLeadersTV: WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY: BEYONCE at UNITED NATIONS
MaximsNewsNetwork ( http://www.MaximsNews.com ) 19 August 20122: United Nations, New York, World Humanitarian Day began today at the United Nations General Assembly with the taping of special Beyonce's "I Was Here" musical video along with a global invitation for the world's people to register at http://www.whd-iwashere.org
A look behind-the-scenes of the 2012 World Humanitarian Day event in the United Nations General Assembly Hall which featured the taping of Beyonce's WHD 2012 'I Was Here' music video.

Every year on August 19th, World Humanitarian Day recognizes those who face danger and adversity to help others. August 19th is the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 people.
We honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and we pay tribute to those who continue to help people around the world, regardless of who they are and where they are.
Every day we see and hear images and stories of pain and suffering in our own neighborhoods and in countries far away. But we also find acts of kindness, great and small. World Humanitarian Day is a global celebration of people helping people.
Ahead of World Humanitarian Day, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson laid a commemorative wreath today (17 August) at UN Headquarters in memory of those who perished at the 2003 Canal Hotel bombing in Baghdad, Iraq.
The day honours those who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and those who continue to bring assistance and relief to millions, in addition to drawing attention to humanitarian needs worldwide and the importance of international cooperation in meeting those needs, the UN said.
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 19 August as World Humanitarian Day in 2008 to commemorate the 2003 terrorist attack in Baghdad, which claimed the lives of 22 UN staff members, including the world body's top envoy to the Middle Eastern country, Sergio Vieira de Mello, and wounded more than 150 people.
