My name is Rebecca McDonald and I am in the second year of my Master’s program at the University of Guelph. Under the supervision of Dr. Vickaryous, our lab studies regeneration and wound healing using a novel amniote model, the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius). Specifically, my project investigates the regenerative potential of the gecko brain. Through this research, we hope to better understand the mechanisms underlying repair and wound healing in the central nervous system. The goal of the work conducted in our lab is to understand the biology of regeneration to ultimately lead to more translational work in humans.
