Bob Dylan Tribute Show at Stony Brook University
Rod MacDonald does a killer version of Dylan's Things Have Changed.
Bob Dylan's 73rd Birthday Celebration with The Kennedys, Rod MacDonald, Russ Seeger, Steve Kaplan, Tom Ryan, Brian Kachejian and Andrew Fortier Saturday, May 17th, 8PM
Below are the promotional notes for the show.
An early celebration of Bob Dylan's Birthday, and always a sell-out show. It's the 50th anniversary of Another Side of Bob Dylan, so you can expect to hear some songs from that album but also many songs from the many sides of Dylan as we roam through the entire Dylan catalog, right up to his recent albums, and throw in some obscure Dylan stuff as well.
Anchoring the evening's celebration will be Pete and Maura Kennedy, who return for their eighth Dylan Birthday celebration at the Cafe. Guitars, sitars and even ukeleles come into play when The Kennedys "do Dylan." (www.kennedysmusic.com)
Rod MacDonald, one of America's finest singer-songwriters and an acknowledged master at interpreting Dylan, returns for another Dylanfest at the Cafe. Rod and his band Big Brass Bed have recently recorded a second album of Dylan songs. (www.rodmacdonald.net).
Russ Seeger, of Levon Helm's Last Hombres, interprets lesser-known Dylan songs and adds great fiddle and guitar work to other Dylan classics in his seventh appearance at a Cafe Bob Dylan Birthday celebration. (www.myspace.com/russseegermusic).
Brian Kachejian sings lead on a couple of songs and plays piano throughout the set. Brian Kachejian has been performing in the Metropolitan area for the past 30 years and was signed to the Modern Voices Label in 2009. His" Mood Piano" Cd became one of the label's biggest sellers. His latest cd was entitled Beneath an Autumn Moon, and was released in 2013.
