My dad, James Swarts fought for Gen. George Patton while a machine-gunner with the 94th Infantry Division in Patton's 3rd Army. The 94th ID was called "Patton's Golden Nuggett" by the Allied Forces. But they were known as "Roosevelt's Butchers" by the Germans for their habit of stacking up bodies alongside the roadways or in German houses as they were under orders not to take any prisoners(there just wasn't enough manpower to handle prisoners at the time. The 94th saw extensive action the last 5-6 months of WWII. My dad was there.
