In a single Sakai site, you can have content that is private to the site while making other content publicly accessible. This feature allows you to streamline the management of all of the information for a course or topic in a single location. Many faculty and students like the ability to make pieces of content "publicly viewable" so that people who are NOT members of the site can easily read, review, or download information without logging in to Sakai.
