Charlotte is a bright, lively 4-year-old from Oxfordshire with an enormous appetite for life. In December 2010, she contracted meningitis, resulting in the loss of all four limbs. She has adapted amazingly well to her situation and is now busy getting on with her life.

Charlotte brought her family and some of her many friends to the SpecialEffect GamesRoom to find out about some computer games and activities she might enjoy. She showed everyone how well she's able to use a laptop to play her favourite Dora the Explorer games, before spending the afternoon using the computer to enjoy bowling games, colouring activities and jigsaws with her friends. She and her family went home with lots of information about how Charlotte can use the computer to play and be creative.

We have since met Charlotte again and set up adapted controllers for her to have fun and even take on the Oxford United players at FIFA on the Xbox! She had a great day. Charlotte visited the SpecialEffect GamesRoom again last week and tried a specially adapted Wii controller and the also the Kinect movement sensor and we will be loaning her and her family some equipment from the SpecialEffect Loan Library so they can play together at home.
