Visual Pinball is an editor/simulator that allows people to construct pinball machines and PinMAME is an emulator that will run dumped roms from pinball machines. They "talk" to each other (I'm not very technical) and you end up with a reproduction of your favourite pinball machine.

I wanted to upload some footage of various tables in action, but it seems to be impossible to record the thing without it ending up a complete stuttering mess :/ If I run it in a tiny window then it records okish though it's still not perfectly smooth, but a tiny window won't allow you to enjoy the amazing work the creators put into their tables.

I noticed you can record the machines in fullscreen when they're in attract mode and it turns out perfectly smooth... so here's a compilation of VP tables in attract mode (some attract modes aren't very interesting...) and hopefully if you've not tried VP then it will give you an idea of just how good some of the tables are.

The tables play very well - other than the classic Pro Pinball series it's probably the best pinball action you can get on the PC. It's quite fiddly to set up but there are plenty of good guides around and some excellent frontends like VP-Man.

If you like pinball then you should checkout Visual Pinball.

Hope you enjoy (:
