In 1986, Berlin, Germany was an island of freedom in a sea of communist East Germany. The United States government had military forces there to protect freedom and to keep supply lines to the city open. There were many American soldier, airmen, and civilians living and working in the American Sector of Berlin. Many had their families with them. If they had any High School aged kids, then there is a very good chance that they attended Berlin American High School. The school was started in 1946 and changed locations a couple of times. After the wall came down in 1989, and later on when Berlin Brigade left in 1994 the school returned to the possession of the host country...Germany. This video recently declassified after being discovered in a personal time capsule is now revealing a secret project that some of the students created as part of their participation in the BERLIN AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL AUDIO VISUAL CLUB 1985-1986. The raw footage was finally edited for the first time in an attempt to complete an unfinished project. 90% of the students that participated are identified in the credits. There is on unknown student, whose name has been forgotten and whose profile in the video made it difficult to positively identify in the YEARBOOKS of that time. If you participated in the project and have not been credited. Please let us know and we will investigate and confirm it and then revise the credits. Please keep in mind that this footage is approximately 28 years old. Many, many things have changed in the world. The Soviet Union was dissolved. The Berlin wall came down. On the day that the footage was recorded at Tegel, the Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster occurred. It may have even been at about the same time. I know that as soon as I got home from the shoot the news was already replaying the events.

That said. This video is posted to posted to preserve the history that it accidentally captured. Pan Am no longer flies. This video was made using toy guns inside of a school. This was long before Colombine and all of the other school shootings. The toy guns don't have the orange tips on the barrels. That was not required back then. Our crews actually got permission from the school to shoot the video. They even gave us access to the principal's office. This production schedule was supervised under the faculty advisement of Art Benson. This video is a work of fiction and any similarity with anyone living or dead is either coincidence, parody, or unintended. For more information about the history of Berlin American High School and its students, mostly military brats, but mixed in with a few Pan Am kids and State Department or Embassy kids please go to the berlinbrats.org website.
