Sartorio (1853-1936) was a German composer of Italian ancestry. Born in Frankfurt, he studied and worked in Germany. He wrote very many salon and educational piano pieces, and a contemporary magazine marked his achieving Op. 1000 in 1912 (he later exceeded Op. 1200) http://scriabin.com/etude/1912/09/arn... . As with Czerny some of these high opus numbers are sets of pieces and not individual works, so he was genuinely prolific. This attractive salon nocturne presents its melody in the tenor register, with the accompaniment played with crossed hands.
