Dayton Heritage Festival at Carillon Park
Sunday, May 29, 2011, Rain date - Monday, May 30th

Join Dayton History and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra on Memorial Day weekend as we celebrate Dayton's history from its founding in 1796 through present day during our one-day community festival -- the Dayton Heritage Festival at Carillon Park.

Carillon Park admission fees will be waived for the day. Guests will find the park decorated in patriotic flair. All 30 exhibit buildings, which tell the stories of Dayton's progress and milestones, will feature special activities and interpreters including Carillon Park's resident vintage baseball team, The Clodbusters.

The scent of true American cuisine -- hamburgers, hot dogs, and BBQ -- will whet the appetites of festival goers young and old. Culp's Café and local food vendors will be open for business all day. Beer, wine and soft drinks will also be for sale throughout the Park.

Younger guests will enjoy the Kids Zone, filled with games and crafts. Kids of all ages will have an opportunity to take a ride on the Carillon Park Rail & Steam Society small scale trains, which will be operating from 12:00 -- 4:00 p.m.

Live Americana music that traverses the decades will fill the air all day, leading up to a feature performance by the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra beginning at 7:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for this annual free concert. The patriotic program and salute to the armed forces is sure to send a ripple of national pride through the audience.

Sponsors of the Dayton Heritage Festival at Carillon Park will enjoy a private tented, VIP seating area for the Dayton Philharmonic Concert. Dedicated bar and food service will be available in the VIP area, making it a perfect way to entertain employees, clients, and other guests.

The Dayton Heritage Festival at Carillon Park drew a crowd of roughly 12,000 individuals in 2010 and we expect greater numbers in 2011. The festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 29 and conclude following the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra concert, which begins at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Grand Finale Fireworks Display.
