Rabbi Arthur Waskow appeared on CNN's "Rick's List" show
on August 3, 2010, discussing the proposed mosque and Islamic cultural center in Lower Manhattan. In this appearance, Rabbi Waskow explains that the Anti-Defamation League's opposition to the building of the mosque and cultural center is a "profound mistake" that contradicts both American principles of religious liberty, as well as Jewish principles of freedom, respect, and individual dignity. He reminds viewers, as well, of the remarkable work of the Cordoba Initiative, the muslim community that will build and operate the facility.

Rabbi Waskow also discusses a public letter initiated by over 2 dozen American rabbis of every denomination (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal) as well as many secular Jewish leaders, supporting the mosque and cultural center and calling on the ADL to change its position.

Members of the public can learn how to sign onto this statement at The Shalom Center's website: www.theshalomcenter.org

There will be a rally in support of the Cordoba Initiative on Thursday, August 5, 12:00 noon at 45 Park Place in Lower Manhattan.
