I had a need to steam DVD's so the family could "pop in a disc" and they could watch it from anywhere in the house. To accomplish this i used the Mezzmo DLNA server to stream/transcode the DVD on the fly to my XMBC AppleTv's.
Please note: you must have a DVD in the drive to set it up. I am going to try setting up network shares on my other computers and see if i can attach those too (over my 1gb lan it may just work).
The only catch is you see the files on the disc not really as a BDROM / DVD.
The mezzmo dlna server is the best value for the price - i have tried lots of DLNA servers and it seems to work the best. Hope they will add this as a native feature making the disc look like a dvd ;-)
