ROBERT PERRY "A "deeper, groovier" Detroit house sound"
"Robert Perry seems to be something of a scientist in the emerging local electronic music scene" - REVUE Magazine [http://tinyurl.com/3jgasst]
Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, Robert Perry was a curious kid with an exceptional ear for music. As if hearing the echo of techno history, Perry tapped into the house and techno scene in his early teens. His upbringings may have started in the gritty, underground techno parties in Detroit, but it wasn't until Perry made the move to East Lansing, MI to attend university that he started DJing. Within a few years he had assembled a DJ collective, LEAK (Lansing Electronic Artist Kollective), and successfully generated a thriving party scene in the Lansing community. Supporting most of the events with his skills on the decks, Perry was also booking name talent and became the local voice for house/edm in a very short amount of time. In the same year, he was signed to the Vancouver based label, Dot Dot Records. Lovable by nature, Perry was no sucker to the effects of charm and decided to move back to the epicenter of techno to hone his skills as a producer. Currently, he studies music at Wayne State University and intently works on his own productions. You can find Perry DJing on a regular basis throughout Detroit, while continuing to expand the LEAK brand statewide.
