How to Embed an Amazon S3 Video in WordPress | WP Learning Lab

Amazon S3 is basically a hard drive in the cloud with similar functionality to Dropbox, Google Drive, and SkyDrive. The biggest difference is that Amazon S3 has more functionality, but it's also more difficult to use.

Amazon S3 and WordPress can work together to embed videos in your website. You can also protect those videos using special settings in your S3 account. The other cloud storage services don't have those abilities.

There is a cost associated with Amazon S3, but it's really cheap. You can see the pricing on this page:

There are plugins that can help you embed Amazon S3 video in wordpress, but in this video I show you how to generate the raw video link and embed it into a WordPress page or post.

One of the easiest ways to access your Amazon S3 account directly is via the the S3 Firefox Organizer add-on for the Firefox browser.

After you upload the video you have to set the ACL privileges, which are in reality privacy settings, to allow the videos to play on your website.

When you've set the ACL privileges you can then right click on the file and name and select "copy link to clipboard" to get the link to the video.

All you have to do is paste that link into your WordPress page or post, click update and the video will magically appear.

So you can use Amazon S3 for your videos and you can also use it for long term file storage like a cloud hard drive.
