Great Wester War IX took place in Chino, California in October 2005. The event is part of an organization known as the Society for Creative Anachronism or S.C.A.. Each year the Western kingdom of the S.C.A. (Caid) which includes Southern California, Southern Nevada and Hawaii, holds the Great Western War event which draws thousands of enthusiasts of pre-17th century Europe.
The definition of anachronism in regards to S.C.A. : accidental or deliberate inconsistency in some chronological arrangement in regards to time periods, culture and global region in particular clothing, armor and fighting style.
The war is fought on a large battlefield between two sides of fully armored soldiers numbering in the hundreds.
To get an idea of how exciting these events can be, I cut the following video together form only one day of my walking around and shooting video randomly.
