I took a bit of a sabbatical from the manic gardening I did last year, and usually do. Almost losing my mare this Spring was a wake-up call that I need to take a little more time engaging in recreational activities. Life is short, and horses' lives are even shorter. . . Besides, all work and no play makes Jane a little crazy and cranky at times. . . ; ) To that end, I am in a re-organizing / re-structuring mode on the gardens. I am asking some very important core questions, like "What is the best use of each of my gardening areas?" "Am I gardening EFFICIENTLY with the resources I have?" What kinds of plants are going to give me the most bang for my buck?" ""What do we REALLY like to eat and want to eat the most of (well, that's healthy, anyway)?" And finally, how can I get MORE out of my garden? These are questions we all should probably ask ourselves from time to time.
