Atheist in North Carolina is "sworn in" using a "solemn affirmation" instead of "so help me god," and the fundies are apoplectic. Says in the North Caroline constitution that someone who denies the existence of a supreme being can't hold office. Of course, the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states you can't have any religious test for office, trumps that, but these buck-toothed banjo-players don't care.

Because who doesnt want a politician that still believes in his imaginary friend..... Glad to live in Europe where the religious are laughed at instead of the atheists.

Funny how I'm legally a terrorist in Saudi Arabia. I would have thought that a terrorist was a person who committed terrorist acts...But hey, what do I know? I'm just an atheist...I believe in reason and shit :)

sad, and yet there is a "War on Religion" What a load of crap. There is a war on science and logic. You don't ad god in schools, politics, or peoples lives just the same as you don't put Mickey Mouse in schools, politics ect. We can't move forward if we hold on the delusion of a god. Keep God out of America. Keep god out of the lives of people. Keep god out of a woman's vagina and body. Keep god out of Schools and politics. You want god in these things, than lets add Mickey mouse as well.

Federal laws are above state laws and so is the federal constitution which says NO RELIGIOUS TEST SHALL EVER BE REQUIRED AS A QUALIFACATION TO ANY OFFICE OR PUBLIC TRUST UNDER THR UNINTED STATES. Retards totally ignoring the very basis that this country was founded on.

Religious entitlement at its worst. Otherwise known as Christian entitlement.

What a surprise. A republican controlled state with an anti-American state constitution. Then at the end of the day, we have to hear these nuts whine about how christians are persecuted in America. I'm sick of these delusional assholes. Why won't they just go away?

So just because we Atheist don't believe in your God makes us automatically evil? and untrusted? I thought Christianity was suppose to be peaceful and tolerant of others? that's what Jesus taught. Most Christian politicians are the most corrupt, evil and money laundering!  so much for the religion of peace and tolerance.
