In the ever-changing world of tech, May 2011 is forever ago. So rumors of sweeping hardware updates for Macs of all kinds are heating up ahead of Apple's annual Worldwide Developer's Conference.

According to 9to5Mac and other sites, almost all of the tech giant's stable of computers—MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, Mac Minis, and even iMacs—will get significant upgrades this year, from processors and slimmer designs to high-resolution retina displays.

Along with the latest rumors for WWDC, which starts next week, Apple lovers are expecting major software announcements, from an introduction to iOS 6 to an iCloud and OS X update. The Wall Street Journal is also reporting that the conference will feature a preview of Apple's rumored new Maps App, which ditches Google and boasts 3-D imaging.

Whatever comes next week, it's probably time to take out your checkbook and put that ancient iMac in the garage to collect dust—that thing is about to be officially vintage.
