The 1987 Pulitzer Prizes at Columbia University, New York. Rita Dove receives the award for her poetry collection "Thomas and Beulah". General introduction by Roger Wilkins. Introduction of prize winners: Michael Sovern. Seated at Table 1, among others, are Rita Dove, Joseph Pulitzer Jr., Meg Greenfield (Washington Post; chair of the Pulitzer Board's poetry award committee), Fred Viebahn (Rita Dove's husband), Emily Rauh Pulitzer, Gene Foreman (Philadephia Inquirer), Max Frankel (New York Times), Peter Taylor (prize winner in fiction), Michael Sovern (president of Columbia University and Pulitzer Awards chairman). Among the recipients is also August Wilson (for drama). Video recorded by Fred Viebahn.
