Bert and Patricia Valencia visited Cheung Chau Island, near Hong Kong on July 8, 2009.
Highlights: Pak Tai Temple their patron deity who saved islanders from the plague, considered to be the vengeance of those killed by the pirates that roamed the island, including Cheung Po-tsai, a 19th century bucaneer. Cheung Chan is a tiny, charming, fishing island, 1/2 hour ferry west of HK. A great escape from the heat and hussle of city. Next to the Temple is a bog, old Banyan tree.
