"Take a serious mind, a double punch of punk and a blender's worth of pop culture and you have the beginnings of a Michael Bevilacqua painting. Born and raised in California, he takes the DIY aesthetics of the native punk culture -- photocopies, spray paint, silk screen -- and works them into fine art canvases exploding with cultural markers from Popeye and Snow White to death metal, ska and punk. His studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is awash in creativity -- music blaring and artists visiting to collaborate- this is a man who lives his mantra that making art should be fun. Bevilacqua's show "Catastrophe Ballet" opens at The Flat -- Massimo Carasi in Milan, Italy on March 10, 2011." Shot by Zbigniew Bzymek.
