I recently tattooed this lotus flower on a really nice girl. She sat extremely well and was nice enough to deal with all of the cameras in her face! The piece is honoring her heritage and father. Her dad actually took the photo of the flower, which makes it that much cooler!
This video is meant to be insightful and instructional, covering the process of a start-to-finish realistic tattoo. I had to work around the fact that her skin tone is pretty dark and has a rich olive undertone. This is something that is very important to remember. Taking liberties with realism by pumping up contrast is vital in achieving a powerful and long lasting tattoo. Thank you for watching, and remember to subscribe to my YouTube channel. I will continue to post more educational material so stay tuned. I teach seminars at tattoo conventions to trained professionals, if you are interested in hearing more about my techniques and thought process.
I use Intenze ink, Redemption Aftercare, and Bishop Rotary tattoo machines.
I used my new GoPro Hero3, my iPhone 5, and a Sony point and shoot digital camera for all of the various shots. The song is "I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons, but is performed by my talented friends in The Goodnight. Check them out at thegoodnightmusic.com.
