Much like archeologists digging up a buried city, Dr. Sean Brady of The Rockefeller University in New York, is sifting the soil for treasure. The riches he seeks, however, reside in the DNA of the multitude of bacteria that make their home in the dirt. The environmental treasure-trove is the largest remaining potential source of new antibiotics. That's why Brady and colleagues are taking this approach to the problem.
