On the day of the Haiti earthquake, a class of Wayne State students gathered to see how they could help the relief efforts. What came out of their discussion was "Hoops for Haiti." The class organized several events to raise money and awareness of earthquake relief efforts, including "Hoops for Haiti." Additionally, they designed and sold t-shirts, organized an orthopedic device drive and are planning several events in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity.
