Tree permits in Pinellas County, Florida
A tree protection ordinance passed by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners in 1971 requires homeowners to obtain a tree permit to cut many species of trees down on their properties. A lot of good comes from trees and so requirements were put into place to allow for some oversight over tree removal to make sure the trees being taken down were being replaced. Cities throughout the county have adopted different regulations. In this edition of good to Know, Mary Burrell of the Pinellas County Communications Department speaks with Clifford Still, environmental manager at Building and Development Review Services about tree permits and the requirements specific to unincorporated Pinellas County, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair Shore, Indian Shores, Redington Shores and Safety Harbor.
