You'll need annotations on to see the subs. This song is a cover of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wv8rh... I'd like to thank Project-Imas for the lyrics and Kaori Shoji for a little insight on the backstory behind the song. (Links at the bottom.)

-------------------English Lyrics---------------------

When I got off the late night train that had departed in Ueno,
Aomori station was covered in snow.
The crowd of people returning home north is silent,
so I listen only to the rumbling of the sea.

I too board the ferryboat alone.
Staring at the seagulls out there in the freezing cold, I cried.
O, the winter scenery at Tsugaru Strait.

"Look, that is Tappi Cape, the northernmost end,"
say strangers, as they point their fingers.
I tried wiping the glass window that has been clouded by my breath,
but all I can see in the distance is mist.

Farewell my love, I'm going home.
The voice of the wind shakes my heart, bringing me to tears.
O, the winter scenery at Tsugaru Strait.

Farewell my love, I'm going home.
The voice of the wind shakes my heart, bringing me to tears.
O, the winter scenery at Tsugaru Strait.

-------------------Japanese/Romaji Lyrics---------------------

Ueno hatsu no yakou resha orita tokikara
Aomori eki wa yuki no naka
Kita e kaeru hito no mure wa dare mo mukuchi de
Uminari dake wo kiite iru
Watashi mo hitori renraku-sen ni nori
Kogoesouna kamome mitsume naite imashita
Aa Tsugaru Kaikyou fuyu geshiki

Goran are ga Tappi Misaki kita no hazure to
Mishiranu hito ga yubi wo sasu
Iki de kumoru mado no garasu (glass) fuite mitakedo
Harukani kasumi mieru dake
Sayonara anata watashi wa kaerimasu
Kaze no oto ga mune wo yusuru nake to bakarini
Aa Tsugaru Kaikyou fuyu geshiki
Sayonara anata watashi wa kaerimasu
Kaze no oto ga mune wo yusuru nake to bakarini
Aa Tsugaru Kaikyou fuyu geshiki

http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bi... (Kaori Shoji's article about Enka.)

"Another song that brings on the chills is "Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki (Winter Seascapes on the Tsugaru Strait)," one of the all-time enka classics. It's about a woman being ditched (again). Heartbroken, she leaves the city and takes the Seikan Ferry back to her hometown in Aomori. The passengers around her are all silent and full of despair. The icy, choppy waves rock the boat. Depressed, the woman goes up on deck where she calls out to her lover (no doubt whooping it up in some Tokyo bar): Sayonara, anata. Watashi wa kaerimasu (Goodbye my love, I'm going home). To emphasize the mood, she adds: Kogoeso na kamome mitsume naite imashita (I look out at the freezing seagulls and weep)." - Kaori Shoji
