In 2007, the leaders and staff at Beormund Special School worked alongside ecl practitioner Judith Hemming to explore a systemic approach to school life. By seeing each child, behaviour and situation in its context, teachers were made aware of the different systems that come together in a school alongside the many factors and influences that are present. This work created a greater sense of belonging and inclusion for both children and parents, an increase in learning and attainment, and created a new optimism and hope for the children, their families and their teachers.
