It's not easy- growing up in Evanston as "that kid," -going through every day of your adolescent life as the big fish in a basketball-crazed fishbowl. In a community that seems to have always labeled some kid "the next great one" before he has even entered the FAAM draft as a wide eyed 6th grader, it's not easy to make it to high school graduation day feeling like you made it through the fire without getting burned out. Ryan Frazier-Chambers has had his fair share of burns and bruises, but the time has almost come to say good bye- and if you mentioned Ryan's name around town, chances are you'd find more than a few fans ready to tell you all about his remarkable career- beaming with pride all the while. Through highs and lows, injuries and comebacks, big wins and loses (namely in the state semi's- on a half court buzzer beater), he has experienced more in his young life than most basketballers go through in an entire career- and when he enrolls in college this fall and puts on some unfarmiliar uniform on a far away campus, in his heart and in our minds he will always be "E-Town's Finest." .....DanielPoneman@gmail.com
