"An Táin Darkness Descends" was entirely shot in studio. To facilitate this I had to build the interior of CúChulainn's ford (fort). I started with some concept designs rendered in Photoshop. From here I built a scale model and from that I worked out the build.
The Set was built of polyboard, usually used for insulation in buildings. I then built the frames out of 2X4 timber. The poly-board was applied with screws and then rendered using a heat gun and soldering iron. This allowed me get some detail of rock/granite type of effect to the structure.
The build used over 200 lengths of timber. Over 700 screws. 6 X poly board @ 8 foot X 4 Foot. 36 X poly board @ 8 foot X 3 Foot. Set build duration 12 days. All in all I built 6 pillars and 6 flats (fake walls).
