Algia Mae Hinton, the great blues singer and guitarist from Johnston County, NC, sings "Why Should I Worry" on her 80th birthday, August 29, 2009, in the Amphitheater at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, accompanied by Lightnin' Wells on guitar. In her younger days Algia Mae could dance while she played guitar -- see Mike Seeger's film "Talking Feet" on Folkstream.net, minutes 16:30 to 20:15 ( http://www.folkstreams.net/film,121 ) . The program also included blues by John Dee Holeman, Lightnin' Wells, and Phil Wiggins, along with stringband music by Wayne and Margaret Martin and friends, and a showing of Godfrey Cheshire's documentary film "Moving Midway" ( http://www.movingmidway.com/ -- Algia Mae provided music for the film) The crowd welcomed Algia Mae by singing Happy Birthday.
