"As a trans man and a photographer, I have combined my passions and identity to dedicate my life's art to documenting diversity within queer culture...To have created a space devoted specifically to the exhibition of trans male lifestyles and sexuality, to me, means to educate those unaware of our community and the subcultures within, while taking steps forward in trans male culture. What started as a project to showcase photographs I took of FTM friends became a trans male community project, with trans guys from all over the world contacting me to model, write articles and include personal narratives dedicated to their personal life experiences and identities," says Amos Mac, photographer of The Boys of Original Plumbing: Past, Present,and Future, currently displaying at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center through May 13. Raymond Donald Hong interviews Mac at the opening of his exhibit and finds out his interest in cowboys.
