First introduced to the public and the auto show circuit in 1954 at Detroits Autorama, this example was the third in a series of four unique creations built by the Chrysler Corporation. Penned by the legendary Detroit designer Virgil Exner and bodied by Carrozzeria Ghia of Turin, Italy, this extraordinary V8 Hemi-powered car was built to show, and go. It is the only known concept car to break a major speed record, which was set by famous racer and aviator Betty Skelton, who hit 143 miles per hour on Chrysler's new Chelsea Proving Grounds in 1954. Today, it remains in outstanding concours quality condition, following a body-off restoration by Fran Roxas. RM Auctions is pleased to present this example, along with 125 others at its Automobiles of Arizona event to be held on January 16th at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, AZ.
