This male beaver was rescued from Big Valley when he was just a few days old. He was found huddled on top of his dead mother near a stream. The tiny baby was covered in mud and dangerously hypothermic. He received immediate supportive care to raise his body temperature, and was fed special beaver milk replacer every 3-4hours. He has been raised at AIWC since July, 2011 and is doing very well. He is currently housed in an indoor enclosure for the winter, with a large pool and a wooden house. In the spring, he will be moved to an outdoor enclosure for a few weeks before being released. In this video, he is eating lunch while a volunteer cleans his enclosure. The noises he makes while eating sound like a crying baby - these are actually normal beaver vocalizations which mean he's happy! Thanks for watching! Visit www.aiwc.ca.
