Describing the many efforts nationally to reform graduate education in the past decade, Andrew W. Mellon President Earl Lewis singles out UT's Intellectual Entrepreneurship (IE) initiative. Lewis suggests that IE stands out as the model for creating engaged scholars and re-imaging the Ph.D. [From 2004-2012 Lewis was Emory University's Provost and Executive Vice-President for Academic Affairs. He previously served as Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the University of Michigan's Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies.]
