Raza Naqvi, Urdu VoA News, Washington. A recent article in the Atlantic Monthly revealed that Pakistan authorities have used regular unmarked vans in urban areas to transport extremely sensitive nuclear materials. The article again raised question in the US about the safety of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. Barry Belchman of the Stimson center said that though the reporting wasn't necessarily very credible, there are some serious concerns about the stability of Pakistan, and what would happen if to the nuclear weapons if the country further destabilized. However, he also mentioned that there are serious safety concerns about nuclear facilities all around the world. Responding to a claim often made in Pakistan and repeated in the Atlantic article, Daryl Kimbal of the Arms Control Association said that though the US may have plans to seize Pakistan's nuclear assets in a worst case scenario, there was a very small posibility of that actually happening.
