A Ukrainian student's latest invention, the ''rubber band machine gun', allows combatants to shoot 14 rubber bands per second. Alex Shpetniy, the mastermind behind the creation, showed off his invention in Lugansk on Tuesday.

Shpetniy, who is a student at the art and design faculty of the National University of Lugansk, raised the funds to create the gun via crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

The wooden device, which is able to fire 672 rubber bands at up to 26 feet (eight metres), comes in various colours and can be purchased online for around $140 (€103).
