Miley Cyrus finally responds to the criticism around her racy VMA performance, comparing herself to Britney Spears and Madonna! What's up Smilers thanks for checking in with ClevverMusic on this fine day. Just when you thought the buzz around Miley Cyrus' VMA performance was dying down... the singer finally responds! Bangerz! While filming her previously announced MTV documentary Miley sat down to talk about her twerk-fest foam-finger VMA performance of We Can't Stop and Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke. In the MTV interview Miley starts by saying proudly, "I don't pay attention to the negative..." and you know what we think, good for you Miley! But the best part of the interview was this comparative statement from Miley saying, "How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? ... Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance... that's what you're looking for, you're wanting to make history. Me and Robin the whole time said, you know we're about to make history right now." So now Miley admits she knew the performance would be controversial and not brushed over lightly. And what about comparing herself to Madonna and Britney, is the comparison warranted? Or is it too soon for that? The iconic VMAs performances Miley was likely referring to are Madonna's "Like a Virgin" performance from 1984 where she rolled around on the ground in a wedding dress and Britney Spears strip tease performance from 2000. And recently we found out that Miley and Britney have collaborated on a song called "Bangerz" for Miley's new album, so Britney is clearly an idol and inspiration for Miley. So is Miley the next Britney? I'm dying to know what you guys think about this comparison, so don't hesitate to tell me below! I'm Misty Kingma for ClevverMusic see you soon with more where this came from.
