The UltraBuck 12 Lite was made to address lack of penetration concerns that have plagued smaller buckshot in the past. The UltraBuck 12 Lite has a payload of 8 0000, or 4/0 balls which weigh 78 grains apiece and are .375" in diameter. shooting this round has a similar effect of hitting a target 8 times with a 9MM Parabellum. as a frame of reference the small, dark ball at the bottom of the image is a .330" 00 buckshot. This round has a 1,050 fps muzzle velocity through a 19" barrel which yields a VERY respectable 1,500 foot pounds energy. You may ask why subsonic??? These balls don't need to have a lot of speed to do their deep penetration. AND while these rounds are really loud in an enclosed area, they aren't deafening like the highs speed but much smaller buckshot.
