The Williams Law Group - http://newjerseydyfsdefense.com/

The laws place families at the heart of child protection services. But at a time where the design and the role of DYFS evolves, this approach on the postures of elected representatives, professionals and families, DYFS holds a methodology based on a singular forum, so as to hopefully allow everyone to better understand each other, their needs, expectations and resources.

DYFS was born for the observation of contradictory injunction, for professionals and for the protection of children. Often torn between support and judgment, DYFS has received many complaints over the years. In fact, the activities of child protection require empathy against suffering, despair and violent families sometimes. In parallel, legislative developments and problems reinforce the need for a change of posture of all stakeholders in the protection of childhood, starting with elected representatives, professionals and families.

There definitely need to be laws and initiation of a collective reflection around the policy of child protection, in order to develop devices and practices best suited to the problems of families. Through this state of affairs, this is to identify the challenges and the expectations that arise in child protection.

Implementing specific technical committees bringing together professionals of the three thematic directions of solidarity (child-family, social cohesion / insertion, autonomy of the people), DYFS policy and operational frameworks and representatives of associations throughout the New Jersey area. These people are invited to reflect on the elaboration of a participatory project, aimed to establish a State of play of the needs of families in child welfare and strengthen understanding between elected representatives, professionals and families.

Through DYFS, participants are brought to center their views and better understand the issues and constraints of their interlocutors. If this awareness is sometimes violent, the methodology based on the theater and participation helps explain the blockages and disagreements in a dynamic of respect and mutual understanding, each being placed on the same level.
