Oak Park Now volunteer editor, Derek Ross, highlights Timmie High of the Oak Park Community Garden.

Viewers will join them on a tour of the garden located at 401 Kanan Road (at the comer of Kanan Road and Sunnycrest Drive).

The purpose of the Oak Park Community Garden is to maintain an organic community garden that will provide education and beautification as well as supplying food for members of the garden. Working in a cooperative manner, the members also maintain the grounds at the garden as well. Individual gardeners get a chance to grow some of their own vegetables , herbs, fruits and flowers, some of which might not be available in local markets. Interacting with one another, gardeners gain a sense of community. Children get an opportunity to see where their food comes from, learn how things grow, how to care for plants and gain a sense of achievement in growing their own food.

The Oak Park Community Garden is a non-profit organization under the Community Foundation for Oak Park.

In this video, Derek and Timmie take a nice stroll through the garden showcasing several different styles of growth that occur in the gardens. Viewers will see the passion and dedication it takes to grow not only yummy fruits and vegetables but also a variety of beautiful plants with amazing colors.

The overall energy and connection to nature at this location is very peaceful. The Oak Park Community Garden truly is a gem in the community of Oak Park.
