Women in the South Bronx should control their own lives and make their own choices, as it ought to be everywhere. Healthcare is a private matter and no women should endure harassment by protestors while visiting their doctors.

Members of the Community said Enough Is Enough!

The New York Coalition for Abortion Clinic Defense (NYCACD) escorts are volunteers and community activists from NYC who help women enter and leave the Dr. Emily Women's Health Center in the South bronx without being harassed by anti-abortion protestors.

The protestors are against reproductive freedom, including birth control, sex education, and sex outside of marriage. These rightwing zealots have made Dr. Emily Women's Health Center a target of their campaign. They subject patients to scare tactics, intimidation and humiliation in an attempt to bullythem into not having an abortion or using contraception.

They are funded by an anti-choice lawyer named Chris Slattery. Some of the protestors are paid intents from other state, even other countries. Slattery runs a chain of fake clinics, including a "Sonogram Bus", which operates with no regulation from the Department of Health and with little or no medical personnel available for the patients. These clinics are so deceptive that NYC recently had to pass a law to require them to post information about their services.

We invite everyone who believes that a women have the right to control their own bodies to join in the defense of Dr. Emily's Clinic and any other clinic in the Bronx being targeted in such manner.

A militant community-wide response is urgently needed!
