http://susieqfitlife.com/ NY1 TV Reports: New Yorkers who can't decide between suspending and spinning for their workouts can now combine the two in an Upper East Side gym. NY1's Health reporter Kafi Drexel filed the following report.

Those who cannot decide if they are in the mood for an intense aerobic sweat session or a dose of strength training can now go for both. At Crunch Fitness in the Upper East Side, the class "Suspension Ride," which created by Tomas Mikuzis, fuses the best of both workouts.

The total body workout begins with 30 minutes of spin, from sprints and jumps to steep climbs.

"The half hour you are in the spin room, we do take you on a journey," says Mikuzis. "We take you on a journey, on an uphill climb, so you're adding the resistance, really working uphill. Then we're sitting down, you're sprinting, like a flat road sprint, like a sprint to the finish. Or you have jumps where, say, you're riding a bike, so you have little potholes, so you're coming up off your seat. So you do have a level changing that's going on, that's engaging your core, as well as your glutes, your hamstrings and your quads."

After taking a journey in the spin room there is a half hour of strength training for a double hit of toning.

"In the half hour that you are using the TRX, which is the suspension system that was created by a Navy Seal, you have a total body workout," says Mikuzis. "You're working your arms, your shoulders, your back, your chest, your core, your glutes, your hamstrings. A total body workout."

Combining some strength training immediately after cardio can only improve the effectiveness of a workout but also have you burning tons of calories.

"For the half hour ride, you should burn around 200 to 300 calories, and then with the TRX because you are using resistance training, you can burn up to another 300. But with the resistance training, you're burning calories even when you leave," says Mikuzis.

That's a calorie count we can all work with.
